After moving from Amsterdam to Maassluis, I wanted to quickly become part of my new surroundings. I joined several local initiatives, including the municipal cultural council. A study showed that local youth and people with migrant backgrounds felt little connection to the city’s cultural offerings. That insight sparked something.

Maassluis had barely any street art, so I decided to start something myself. It began with a pair of wings on a wall near the youth center, followed by a mural of a megaphone bursting with local activities. Now, there are around ten murals across the city—from a sea container turned into a tropical aquarium to colorful school walls and the facade of the local music society.
